Dimwood Privacy

Last updated: 16 August 2026

The short version

Dimwood collects nothing and sends nothing. The game has no network code at all. It has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no account to create. Nothing you do in the game ever leaves your device.

That is not a promise about how we handle your data — it is a statement that there is no data for us to handle. We could not see your saves, your journal or your progress even if we wanted to.

What the game stores

Dimwood saves your progress on your device, in the app's own private storage (iOS UserDefaults, inside the app container). It is readable only by this app on this device, it is never transmitted, and deleting the app deletes it. In full, that is:

  • Which chapters you have finished, and the stars, marks and seals you earned
  • Your Night Almanac — the short diary entries the game writes after a night
  • Lifetime stardust carried home, for the Beacon
  • A local skill estimate the generator uses to shape the difficulty of a generated night
  • Your settings: sound, haptics, spoken narration, and which teaching lines you have already seen

None of this is an identifier, and none of it is tied to you as a person. There is no device ID, no advertising identifier, and no fingerprint of any kind.

The AI features run on your phone

On devices that support it, Dimwood uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework for two things: naming a generated night and writing its diary line. Both run entirely on the device, through Apple's own system framework. No prompt, no response and no text you see is sent anywhere, and there is no cloud model behind either feature.

On devices without that framework, the game uses its own built-in writing instead. Either way, nothing leaves the phone.

Children

Dimwood is a gentle game with no chat, no user-generated content, no links out to the web, and no advertising. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.

Purchases

If Dimwood offers a purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your name or your Apple Account. The app only ever learns whether a purchase is active, and it stores that single fact on the device.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase — but you are welcome to ask, and we will tell you exactly this.

To delete everything the game has saved, delete the app from your device. You may also lodge a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority (Datenschutzbehörde).

Changes

If Dimwood ever gains a feature that touches the network, this page will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. Questions go to office@nodify.at.
